Factory Furniture was approached to take the client’s designs for extra-long picnic tables through to the manufacturing stage.

The final product comprised of differing lengths of picnic table with integral seating, each curved at different radii.

Each section was broken down into more manageable modules which could then be bolted together.

The picnic units comprised of large curved FSC® Iroko slats mounted onto a galvanised steel channel frame.

The project posed various challenges. Every module and slat was different and the shear scale of the finished piece meant new manufacturing methods had to be employed. Accuracy and attention to detail were paramount at every stage.

A method of removable base fixing also had to be developed to enable fixing to the cobbled surface of the square.
