IOTA were commissioned by gardening author and designer Alex Mitchell for a small private residential terrace in North London. Given the site’s physical space constraints, a series of 5 bespoke, modular planters were designed and manufactured to improve the aesthetics of the small space and create an inviting garden within an urban environment.

Varying in size from 900mm to 1550mm in length and up to a maximum 800mm height, the planters stepped together to create a scaled change along the run of the terrace boundary. One of the planters was also manufactured to incorporate a cylindrical cowl to allow for existing air vents passing through the base of the planter.

Each module was manufactured from 1.5mm Zintec steel and polyester powder coated to RAL 7032 (Pebble Grey) for a clean, modern aesthetic, in contrast to the lush green foliage.

A further 2100mm (l) x 550mm (w) x 550mm (h) rectangular trough planter was supplied later for a smaller paved area to the front of the property, completing the project and providing a cohesive design concept.
