This project follows many others that Cleveland Sitesafe has successfully completed for the RSPB at Fairburn Ings and other sites.
Cleveland Sitesafe had previously supplied three vandal-resistant steel bird hides and one viewing shelter at the Fairburn site, and more recently a visitor centre at the neighbouring RSPB St Aidan's site.
John Hodgson, General Manager explained: "we were a little surprised to be asked to design and supply a treehouse, as our first thoughts were: did they have a strong enough tree to support one of our heavy duty steel structures?" It turned out that the brief was for a self-supporting structure so it wasn't a problem, and after a few redesigns we came up with the current structure."
The heavy-duty box-section steel married with timber cladding and colour of the climbing wall handholds, creates an impressive structure, nestled in a woodland glade at the visitor centre play area.
