The Duke of York's Picturehouse  in Brighton was built in 1920 and claims to be the oldest purpose-built cinema in the UK. It is a well-known landmark with its striped legs installation on the rooftop.

A high volume of pedestrians use the footpath at the front of the cinema and it required a durable, low maintenance alternative to the existing old paving stones. Brighton & Hove City Council Council decided on a resin bound surfacing option.

Addagrip approved contractor, Elite Surface Solutions installed 263sqm of Terrabound resin bound porous surfacing in a 3mm Chocolate Buff at the front of the cinema, which is located near a major road junction at Preston Circus in Brighton.

Firstly the old paving was removed, then a tarmac coating was laid to level the area ready for the resin bound aggregate surface.

Due to the busy location, work was carried out over a 4-day period during May 2015 to minimise disruption to the local community.

The result is an aesthetically pleasing pedestrian area which complements this historic building.
