With its own Pleasure Park, a holiday camp and beach, Barry Island was once one of the busiest seaside towns in the UK. At its peak it attracted a quarter of a million visitors in just one weekend. As part of a regeneration project, Addagrip approved contractor Midland Decorative Surfaces was asked to undertak work to the beachfront walkways.

The existing asphalt walkways were looking tired and worn and the requirement was for an aesthetically pleasing surface that would be hard wearing, low maintenance and able to withstand the harsh elements of this coastal location.

Terrabound resin bound surfacing is an ideal system these types of busy pathways. It is aesthetically pleasing, using a natural Trent aggregate blend to harmonise with the beach environment. It requires minimal maintenance and its porosity ensures there is no standing surface water.

Midland Decorative Surfaces completed the 2500sqm installation of seamless Terrabound porous resin bound surfacing in March 2015.
