The pergola and green-roofed cordwood classroom formed the centrepieces of a sensory garden that Handspring Design created for Columbia Grange School for children with special needs, inconjunction with the Landscape Architecture Team at Sunderland City Coucil.

The project was very well received by the school and won the Best Landscape Design award at the Northern Design Awards.

The company had previously made a cordwood roundhouse for another school in Sunderland, however this one had to be more robust and simpler due to nature of the site.
