Queens Dyke Primary School had two areas under trees totalling 750 sq m which were muddy in the winter and bare and dusty in the summer. As a consequence they could not be used for long periods of time, reducing the available playtime area.
Sportsmark Group Ltd came up with a suitable solution well within their budgetary constraints.
The areas were stripped of vegetation, consolidated, and edging stones laid. 40mm of sand was compacted over a geotextile, and a 20mm sand-filled, tri-coloured polyethylene artificial grass was laid.
School Bursar, Julie Benson said: ‘What was a dusty or muddy area, out of bounds for most of the year, has now become really attractive, usable all year round and safe. We are really pleased with result, and the efficiency of the Sportsmark team.”
