Challenge
With a mixture of shops, traditional market stands and large landscaped features, Partington shopping village is designed to make the town an attractive place to live, work and visit.
Located in the shadow of the Trafford Centre, the contractors wanted to create a focal point for the small town. Therefore, the 27,000 sq ft shopping village is surrounded a large landscaped "village" green style area.
The contractor responsible for delivering the project was leading building and engineering company CPUK. As a company CPUK prides itself on its reputation and was looking for a street furniture supplier that matched their company values of excellent product quality and customer service. With this in mind, CPUK contacted AUTOPA about providing the street furniture for the new shopping village.
Solution
In order to create a welcoming environment and to establish the centre in its surroundings AUTOPA supplied and installed a variety of street furniture products. The Rockingham Bench and the Flared Top Bin were chosen to complement each other and enhance the external environment.
With a large number of pedestrians and vehicles anticipated to be on site every day, CPUK was looking for a way to ensure the safety of visitors moving around the site. AUTOPA's RetractaPost GL’s were installed to prevent unauthorised access in pedestrian areas, while still allowing access in case of emergency. Stainless steel bollards were installed throughout the site to provide a physical demarcation between the pedestrian and vehicle areas. Finally, column protectors and bumper rails were installed in the car park to protect vehicles and street lights from damage.
The aim of the project was to create a sense of community and improve the quality of life in the surrounding area. Therefore it was essential the new shopping centre offered suitable parking for cyclists. As a result eight Sheffield Cycle Stands were installed around the shopping complex, providing parking for up to sixteen bicycles. The Sheffield Cycle Stand has been continually manufactured by AUTOPA since the 1990s and is a popular and effective cycle parking solution. The cycle stands installed at the Partington Shopping village were manufactured in flawless stainless steel perfectly complementing the other street furniture items.
Outcome
Now open, the Partington Shopping Centre has proved a hit for local residents with hundreds visiting the centre every day. AUTOPA's appealing and durable products have helped to create a safe and sociable atmosphere for shoppers and the wider community
