Handspring Design won a competition to create a sculptural intervention that would highlight the historic White Hart Dock, and draw attention to the fact that it is still connected to the Thames and fills and empties daily with the tide.

The winning design was based around deconstructed boat frame elements - large oak arches, and smaller oak rowing boats, which drew their inspiration from the traditional boat types represented by the local cultural mix. All made using tradtional boat building techniques.

The project was commissioned by Lambeth Council and located on South Bank of Thames between Lambeth and Vauxhall Bridge. Handspring Design had to work between the tides and on a Red traffic route which made the project logistically very challanging.
