Challenge

As part of a £1.4 million restoration project at Drake’s Place, Plymouth, which was made possible thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Big Lottery Fund and investment from Plymouth University, 750m2 of resin bonded surfacing was required.

Solution

Addagrip approved contractor, Resin Bonded Surfacing of Doncaster, was pleased to be appointed to carry out the installation of Addastone Plus resin bonded surfacing.

A 2-5mm Corn Flint aggregate was selected for the pathway areas, as part of the plan to improve access and restore features including fountains and the Watch House.

Working to a tight deadline, the team took advantage of some good weather to install the Addastone Plus resin bonded system, but first had to dry out the existing surface which was still damp from the previous wet weather.

Outcome

Dave Tweedie of Resin Bonded Surfacing said: “We faced a challenge to get the job done on time but our team based at our Plymouth office managed to get the surface installed over a day and a half period.”
