The Odds Farm Team researched play areas and found the Timberplay case studies on line. They felt that the some of the Timberplay equipment and designs would help develop the imagination and interactive play areas they were looking to provide and also be in keeping with the feel of the place. To this end Timberplay worked with them in 2013 to create a toddler area, with play huts, tractor & trailer, duck family and swinging horse.
After seeing the quality of Timberplay’s product and service they contacted them again in 2014 to create a dedicated sand and water area, perfect for their demographic of families with children aged 8 and under. Steve & Jackie Vinden, owners of Odds Farm comment:-
“A sand and water area has been on our wish list for some time, but we wanted to make this investment count so took our time to find the right supplier and products that would be durable and reliable enough to cater for our visitor numbers. After seeing the quality of Timberplay’s work we had no qualms about using them to create the space and have not been disappointed.”
The central hand pump provides the water which can be directed through a series of channels and over a small stainless steel water wheel. The beauty of sand and water together is that they can be combined to create many different properties, just enough water creates the perfect building material, too much and it becomes mud, which can be played with, splattered and moulded on the mud table.
A large building site encourages to children to work together to transport the sand. Smaller children love playing with the Caterpillar, a series of low level fencing panels with several play features. The ever popular digger is also a big draw for younger children and a large shade sail provides all weather protection.
Jackie summarises her experience of working with Timberplay:-
“From the start Timberplay have been great to work with, they understood what we were trying to create and helped us to select the best products to meet our requirements. The team who came and fitted the play areas were exemplary and the finished play space has been very well received by our young visitors and their parents and carers.
