Challenge

Sports retailer Decathlon wanted a versatile external area outside their flagship Decathlon Campus store at Villeneuve d'Ascq near Lille in northern France. 

More than just a sports store, the Decathlon Campus also offers a summer holiday camp and sports camps for children. Cycling, rollerblading, football, dance, and horse-riding are some of the activities available.

Durable, portable benches were required for the outdoor courtyard area that plays host to a variety of events.

Solution

Benches were produced to specification in architectural concrete in an anthracite colour with a smooth finish.

They feature slots that allow a fork-lift truct to move them around. In this way the space can be adapted according to weather conditions for for public demonstrations, games and other events that are organised at the Decathlon Campus.

Outcome

The concrete will last for a very long time and the benches help to structure this dynamic outdoor space.
