Challenge
Proludic's Project Team visited the site with the client to discuss their vision for the project and to understand if there were any limitations or site constraints that had not been communicated in the brief. At this meeting it was apparent that the client wanted to use Proludic’s innovative design skills to create a wow factor for its city’s most prominent area.
Solution
After submitting an initial concept design based on recurring water themes found throughout Markeaton Park, Proludic was selected to work in partnership with Derby City Council.
A period of development took place alongside the local community to ensure the ship provided a suitable level of challenge for a wide variety of abilities.
Following this period, additional elements such as the tube slide, play panels and low level net were included - guaranteeing a full and exciting range of play experiences for everyone.
Outcome
Proludic successfully installed an innovative and completely bespoke unit that is entirely unique to Markeaton Park. The ship offers a fantastic range of play opportunities including access to and around the top deck of the ship for children in wheelchairs via a new footpath as well as climbing, sliding, role play and activity panels with different levels of challenge.
Councillor Marton Repton, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture commented:
“This is excellent for children of all abilities in Derby to enjoy exciting and imaginative play equipment right in the heart of our much-loved and much-used Markeaton Park.”
