Challenge
The new Gogar Tram Depot is part of the Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvement Programme designed to make Edinburgh Airport and the surrounding area more accessible by public transport.
The large site required security measures to protect the rolling stock and prevent vandalism. Due to the critical nature of the project the budget was tight and the timescale limited.
Solution
CLD's team carried out thorough research before drawing up detailed CAD drawings to meet the client’s exact requirements. Adding complexity to the challenge was the need for an integrated automation and access control system at the main entrance gates.
After in-depth discussions with the installer, CLD chose a complementary pairing of Eclipse™ and Securus™ fencing with automated gates at the secure zones. This combination met the brief effectively providing perimeter protection along the full boundary with permission-only access to the secure zones.
Outcome
The results were impressive with high security delivered cost-effectively and efficiently. The client was extremely satisfied with the speed and simplicity of the job, whilst the contractor is using the installation as a flagship project on their website.
For CLD, it was further confirmation of how much can be achieved as a result of good planning and effective co-operation.
