Flamstead End School asked Setter Play to create a bright and colourful play area for their children along with a sheltered area. We decided that an Ant Hill would be best for the age group and it fitted the criteria as it is brightly coloured and interesting. There are lots of different ways of climbing up and down to and from the platforms as well as a slide to make it fun for the children after climbing up to the last platform.
The shade sail matches the colours of the Ant Hill and the red splodges around the legs also match the ones on the play unit. This links them together as the children play.
We also built benches around the leg of the shade sail for teachers or children to take a rest from all the playing. As the seat goes round the leg it doesn't make children sit and look at one certain place and they can chose which direction to face.
