Ultrascape creates a grand entrance in York

Fishergate Bar is a one storey gateway on the historic York Walls, originally forming the entrance to the city from Selby. This grade 1 listed structure is accessible to both pedestrians and cyclists. In need of regeneration, the gate’s paved surrounds were re-laid using the Ultrascape mortar paving system, a project commissioned by York City Council.

Standing since the 15th century, Fishergate Bar is one of six gateways in the city walls. It’s a major tourist attraction and through route receiving a high daily footfall. The gate’s new footing was created using Ultrascape’s BS 7533 compliant mortar paving system.

The Ultrascape mortar paving system, is a range of bedding, priming and jointing materials which meet and exceed the strict demands of BS 7533. It offers the reassurance of being independently tested by a UKAS accredited laboratory, which verifies its capabilities. With such a well-known area receiving such a high footfall, this was an essential requirement when selecting materials for the scheme.

Ultrascape Pro-Bed HS is a fine bedding mortar that can be laid from 10mm to 75mm. The product creates the ideal foundation for laying paving elements where a rigid or bound base is required.

Ultrascape Pro-Prime slurry primer is specifically formulated to provide an exceptional bond of greater than 2N/mm² between all types of stone. It only requires the simple addition of water before it can be applied to the stone elements.

Ultrascape Flowpoint, a rapid setting flowable grout, is fast and efficient to apply, offering the ability to grout significant areas of paving quickly and cleanly. Perfect for wide or narrow joints, Flowpoint can accommodate joint widths of 5-50mm and depths of up to 200mm in a single pass. Paving grouted with Flowpoint can be opened to pedestrian traffic after just 1 hour.
