Challenge

Columbus School and Columbus College were part of the Building Schools for the Future project.

Bailey Streetscene was contracted to supply and install covered walkways for the main school building and for the college.

Solution

Bailey tailormade the walkways and shelters to suit the requirements of both buildings.

For the school, the walkway was designed to compensate for a change in floor level. It had a wall-fixed construction and included integral guttering. HDPE thermal breakpads were incorporated into the design to give an overall streamlined system.

The walkway for the college was designed to follow the radius the building, providing a completely dry route for staff and students. The structure had a wall- and post-fixing system with HDPE thermal break pads incorporated into the design. Timber side cladding was retrofitted after the initial installation to complement the building structure.
