IHT is concerned with the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of land-based transport systems and infrastructure.

It promotes the exchange of knowledge, improves policy, stimulates debate on transportation issues and encourages best practice in the industry.

IHT also offers routes to qualifications such as Chartered and Incorporated Engineer status as well as Transport Planning Professional.
