Bearl medium grained cream / buff variegated sandstone

Bearl is a light coloured medium grained sandstone that has been used to build houses, churches and bridges. This stone is good to work and carve and is also reasonably durable. The quarry near Corbridge in Northumberland yields good square block from plentiful reserves. Bearl has recently been used for the façade of a major shopping development
