Context
Eibe was awarded the tender to create a train- and nature-themed play area at Kelling Heath Holiday Park in Norfolk after presenting environmentally-friendly designs that utilise sustainable hardwood Robinia, guaranteed to last well over a decade.
Kelling Heath is set amongst 300 acres of rare open heathland in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It also sits very close to the North Norfolk coastline at Weybourne. The site is a very popular family destination and offers a wide range of recreational and leisure activities.
Project detail
Eibe’s thoughts behind the design considered the park’s natural surroundings, especially the diverse range of wildlife, including red squirrels. The Squirrel’s Drey design was chosen to reflect the fact that Kelling has successfully bred over 30 kittens since joining the national red squirrel breeding program in 1999.
The Steam Train Adventure was a great addition to the fact the park is an official halt on the North Norfolk Railway’s famous Poppy Line between Sheringham and Holt – something Mark Durrant, Park Manager, says informed the choice of the official opening. The use of subtle theming was well-designed to enhance the aesthetic feel and reflect the heritage of the site.
Outcome
Eibe has done an exceptional job in creating the themed adventure-style course for children of all ages and play values.
