Lorenz von Ehren offers a range of trees which are resilient to the demands of city environments and the changing climate.

Suitable trees for the city

Trees that are unaffected by the adverse site conditions in the city, but also by climate changes resulting in increasing drought, heavy rain events and heat waves. Native and non-native species and varieties are available.

City trees - fit for climate change - fit for the future

These urban trees thrive despite the difficult site conditions in cities. CO2, fine dust, radiant heat, construction work, and road salt application means stress for the trees. De-icing salt, car tires and soil work damage the roots, dust and air pollutants damage the leaves, drought and asphalt-related radiant heat have always been city problems, higher temperatures than in the surrounding areas too.

On the other hand, trees in big cities have to endure heavy rain, withstand violent storms in street canyons and fend off pests that have been brought in. Some species, such as chestnuts (bacteria) or ash trees (fungi), are hardly able to do this. Sooner or later they will probably disappear from the cityscape. We need city trees that can do everything.
