Handspring Design created a timber outdoor classroom with a green roof for a primary school in Whitley Bay.

The frame was constructed in UK-grown Douglas Fir with six mortise and tenon jointed and pegged posts with braces onto a hexagonal ring beam.

The roof is 12-sided around the perimeter and turns into a star when looking up, and features wildflower turf with a 100mm substrate.
