Overview

As part of a substantial refurbishment project spanning multiple University of East London campuses, Bailey Streetscene supplied the Docklands Campus with a number of large-scale bespoke hardwood timber podium seating units.

The project, led by HA Marks Construction, will see a full internal and external renovation across Docklands and Stratford.

Project detail

Situated at the entrance to the Students’ Union, the podium seating creates an inviting social space, acting as a focal point for casual meetings as well as University events.

An L-shaped unit sits atop a tiered platform that overlooks flights in and out of London City Airport across the water.

Given the scale and sheer amount of timber involved, each unit was fully assembled at Bailey Street Furniture Group's warehouse in Adlington prior to dispatch to reduce any complications during installation.

The podiums were then packaged and delivered in assembled and clad segments which were easily joined together and aligned on site.

Docklands is one of three campuses that Bailey Streetscene has worked on for this project.

About Docklands

This waterfront campus in the historic Royal Docks provides a modern, well-equipped learning environment, with modern lecture theatres and seminar rooms and, with the recent opening of the Elizabeth Line, is easily connected with central London.
