Wildflowers thrive in poor soils which are low in key nutrients. Most garden soil found in the UK is naturally too rich for a successful wildflower meadow. This specially blended growing medium is an essential aid for establishing successful wildflower areas in gardens, parks, amenity areas and schools and helps minimise competition from weeds and grasses.

Low nutrient soil is made up of predominantly sand-based soil with very low levels of organic matter. The high levels of sand provide a free-draining base to minimise water logging and to allow nutrients such as nitrogen to escape, making the soil less fertile and protecting new seedlings from rotting.
