Enclosed shelters with green roofs for Fujifilm offices

Langley Design worked with Willmott Dixon on a £43m office block expansion project for Fujifilm in Billingham.
Work undertaken
Being a leading UK manufacturer of timber shelters, Langley Design was specified by Ryder Architecture for a large timber enclosed cycle shelter, which allows the residents of the state-of-the-art 3-storey office block to store their bicycles securely.
Langley Design also manufactured and installed a bin store and smoking shelter.
Each of the designs used the same construction materials to create an appealing aesthetic across the site, and the matching smoking shelter provides an outdoor covered area for office workers.
All units had the added benefit of being provided with sedum roofs. A green roof has many benefits at economic, ecological and societal levels: it provides a rainwater buffer, purifies the air, reduces the ambient temperature, regulates the indoor temperature, saves energy and encourages biodiversity in the city. Green roofs are part of climate-proof construction.

Willmott Dixon was extremely pleased with the end result.
