Requirement

CTS was asked to design and manufacture a bespoke parapet bridge at a new Travelodge in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The bridge was needed to provide access for pedestrians between the hotel and the main car park.

Solution

Working closely with Marshall Building Contractors, CTS ensured that the style of the bridge matched the client's design requirements. and to ensure it meets with current design standards. The manufacture stage involved CTS’s joiners and fabricators working together to combine the timber and steel elements needed to produce the bridge.

The parapet's structure was designed to meet the requirements of Class C infills to BS 7818. The criss cross infills were placed at less than 110mm centres and were set in a steel frame. A durable FSC ekki hardwood casing was fixed around the parapet frame to provide contrast. The walkway surface of the bridge features CTS’s Hi-Grip Excel deck boards with two non-slip inserts in each board to provide a safe surface for hotel personnel and customers. All steelwork is CE marked to EXC 4 and all timber is FSC accredited.
