Context

The prestigious River Café in Hammersmith has an outdoor seating area that was in need of refurbishment. The existing tables and benches had been damaged and rust had started to take hold.

Challenge

Benchmark was approached to design and manufacture a number of 316 stainless steel picnic tables and benches to replace the existing items. The new products needed to fit into the designated area, and had to be extremely robust due to the site being open to the public. The design also had to be aesthetically simply so as not to detract from the adjacent view of the River Thames.

Solution

Benchmark worked closely with the client's architect to provide several design option, and a folded perforated stainless steel top with a tubular frame was chosen. The product features a central spine and laser profiled supports which provide subtle strength. The grade 316 perforated stainless steel provides a simple, user-friendly finish.
