Straight and curved seating for new school extension
Ibstock Junior School in Leicestershire, built in the 1920s, required another building extension to increase capacity due to a dramatic rise in the number of pupils from new housing developments. Furnitubes’ RailRoad Edge straight and curved seating was chosen for the scheme as it allows for configurations to suit the confined spaces available and encourages social interaction
Ibstock Junior School is located in the village of the same name in north Leicestershire. The original school was built in the 1920s and has subsequently had several building extensions to increase the capacity. In recent years there has been a dramatic rise in the number of pupil intakes due to the amount of new housing development in the local area. In 2016 Leicestershire County Council granted planning permission for an extension of the existing school to increase pupil capacity.
The development comprises bright, energy efficient, modern teaching spaces with additional trees and landscaping treatments to the boundaries alongside the new building. Furnitubes’ RailRoad Edge family was chose as the external seating for the scheme, offering the opportunity for straight and curved configurations to suit the confined spaces available and its design will encourage social interaction amongst the pupils
