Early years outside space for primary school
Extensive ground works were required for this early years outside space. Excavations into the bank at one end of the site and the construction of a brick retaining wall at the other end allowed Learning Through Play to dramatically increase the size and levels of the area.
The central area of the design was laid to artificial grass to provide a welcoming area
Brunswick House Primary School wanted an early years outside activity space that would provide a forum for group learning and activities.
Work undertaken
Extensive ground works were required for this early years outside space. Excavations into the bank at one end of the site and the construction of a brick retaining wall at the other end allowed Learning Through Play to dramatically increase the size and levels of the area.
The central area of the design was laid to artificial grass to provide a welcoming area to sit and take part small group activities.
The cycle track circled the perimeter and linked the rest of the activity zones The activity zones included the discovery cove, water zone, role play area, amphitheatre, music zone and nature growing area.
Outcome
The project was received very well by the school.
Learning Through Play subsequently completed a Forest School area in a small area of woodland on the school site.
