This year the Lorenz von Ehren nursery will celebrate its 150th anniversary. From 3-6 September 2015 events will include a symposium and an open day for customers, prospects, industry experts and individuals.
Established in 1865, Lorenz von Ehren (Hamburg) is one of the leading European nurseries. The company is family-owned and today is run by Bernhard von Ehren, in its fifth generation, as Managing Partner. He has been supported since 2007 by Konrad Parloh.
Founded in 1865 in Nienstedten, the nursery was known early on for its large and unusual plants. Customers from all over Europe, and even the Imperial Court of Russia, relied on the quality of Lorenz von Ehren's plants. Lorenz von Ehren became the purveyor to the royal families of England and Denmark and was allowed, after 1914, to use the title of 'Royal Prussian royal supplier'.
The company prospered and, even after the politically and economically difficult times at the beginning and middle of the 20th century, the family operation again began to establish itself as one of the leading nurseries in Europe. In particular, in order to maintain this level and also expand, in 1965 the Lorenz von Ehren operation in Bad Zwischenahn was founded.
In 1993 the company moved its headquarters to the south of Hamburg to and merged with Hamburg production areas and developed other areas.
In 2014 a second branch was bult in Schleswig-Holstein. The nursery areas have grown to a total of approximately 550 hectares and has around 160 employees.
A complete range can be supplied, from large trees to smaller plants, including many rarities.
