Permachannel is a linear drainage system designed for collecting and treating stormwater.
The system comprises single or multiple interconnected channels appropriately located to collect surface water run off from sub-catchments of impervious or pervious pavements.
It is designed to be laid without a gradient to prevent the development of lateral velocities, allowing it to 'still' sheet runoff from each sub-catchment and encourage silt deposition in each channel.
The outlets discharge from the side of the channel via a weir and baffle component that separates oils and prevents the effluent and silt from prgressing beyond the channel into the rest of the drainage system.
The trapped effluent is treated naturally by aerobic digestion.
Permachannel is used for stormwater collection, interception and the treatment of associated pollutants. Applications include residential, industrial estates, car parks, sports pitches, roofs, basements, pedestrian areas and rainwater harvesting.
It can be used as part of a SUDS in conjunction with Permavoid™ to provide water storage at shallow construction depths.
Channels are manufactured from polymer concrete, which has a capillary-free, non-porous sealed structure that is naturally resistant to most chemicals including petrols, oils and acids,
Gratings are ductile iron standard steel safe.
Load rated to D400
Permachannel is rated to D400 loading in accordance with BS EN 124: 1994.
Permachannel complies with the regulations of the treatment train criteria in a SUDS scheme as defined in PPG3.
Permachannel must be installed on a load bearing concrete bed and haunch in accordance with site specific construction details.
