Overview
State-of-the-art sports fencing from Zaun has been installed at St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Romford for its new multi-use games area (MUGA), providing students with an outdoor space to host sporting activities without being impeded by poor weather.
The Voluntary Aided School worked with architectural firm, Munday + Cramer, to create a cost-effective multi-use games area to replace its existing playing fields. In an urban environment with limited outdoor space, the school required an area with an effective drainage system that could provide sporting facilities all year round.
MUGAs are designed with artificial surfacing and a free drainage system, so they won’t sustain any damage as a result of constant footfall, flooding or mud. With minimal maintenance requirements, unlimited flexibility and a wide range of additional features available, MUGAs have become a worthy investment for many urban school districts.
The works were carried out during term-time and enabled the school to open the MUGA for use during the summer term.
