Overview

Duncan & Grove was appointed as the specialist design and build playground contractor for a bespoke piece of play equipment for Chobham Farm, a residential development in Stratford, London.

The concept for this piece was designed by Churchman Thornhill Finch architects.

Work undertaken

Duncan & Grove created a detailed 3D model of the structure, appointed a structural engineer and liaised with the play inspector to ensure it was complaint.

A central steel column with a series of spokes supports a number of curved glulam beams, a stainless steel tube slide and a series of nets and climbing ropes. The glulam beams are supported on steel shoes to lift them out of ground contact and improve the longevity of the playground equipment. The cladding and climbing holds are made from robinia.
