Tactile paving is a system of textured ground surface indicators found on many footpaths‚ stairs‚ crossings and train station platforms to assist blind and visually impaired pedestrians. Tactile paving units bear a distinctive raised surface profile that act as a warning to alert pedestrians of impending danger or a grade change.
Corduroy paving is used to identify any type of potential hazard and advise pedestrians to proceed with care. For example to avoid street furniture in a pedestrianised area or at the top or bottom of steps.
