The number of data centres in the world is predicted to grow to 7.2 million data centres storing 1,327 EB of data. Whilst everyone is aware of the need to protect against data breaches from cyber attacked, the requirements for physical protection are less clear.
In 2013, the EN 50600 collection of standards was developed to provide standards for the design, planning, installation and operation of data centres. However, the standard does not specify security ratings to protect from intruders relying on other standards which are not commonly referenced.
Perimeter systems designed to deter and delay
CLD Fencing has developed a number of options for physically protecting data centres that provide the following features:
- Perimeter fencing and gates tested to LPS1175
- Anti-climb protection mesh with additional security toppings
- Guaranteed minimum delay times of 1 to 3 minutes
