Vita Student accommodation at St Albans Place in Leeds is an 18-storey / 376-studio apartment development with additional facilities including communal dining areas, a coffee lounge, cinema rooms and a gym.
Located at the north end of the busy Briggate shopping street, the site is tightly constrained by the existing road network, including the adjacent A64 Leeds Inner Ring Road.
The combination of the building size and its unusual mustard-coloured glazed terracotta cladding, makes the Vita Student building a distinctive new addition to the ever-changing Leeds skyline.
Given the tight constraints of the site, the outdoor space is limited to a small triangle of land to the front of the building - effectively a pocket park that respects and knits into the existing local street layout.
An attractive, intimate space with planted borders has been designed by local landscape architectural practice Re-Form.
In keeping with the bold and contemporary design of the development as a whole, Re-Form selected Furnitubes’ RailRoad seating for the scheme, with Delta support modules linking to a bespoke double-width platform to create an unusual overall seating arrangement.
The Delta form of the seating supports has been echoed in the choice of Ribbon cycle stands, supplied in a robust galvanised finish for maximum long-term durability.
