Falco began the rollout of passenger waiting shelters and cycle racks to a series of ferry terminals across the Scottish coast for Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) in Aug 2019.
Falco has been working closely with CalMac Ferries over the past two years to provide solutions on internal and external upgrades at ports with a view to making passenger experiences more enjoyable. The project enhances the customer facilities at 40 facilities for new cycle, waiting and ticket validation shelters. With cycle tourism numbers increasing at such locations, there was a real need to improve facilities for these passengers and CalMac was keen to work with Falco to help achieve their goal.
The contract oversees the manufacture, supply and installation of bespoke waiting shelters and compact cycle parking systems to a number of ports on the CalMac ferries network as part of a customer experience upgrade programme.
The project builds on the initial installation at Ullapool Harbour in 2017, where Falco installed a bespoke 5 x 4m passenger waiting shelter and associated cycle stands.
Falco provided CalMac with support and guidance in relation to both ferry and port cycle parking solutions and hosted workshops, met with key stakeholders and carried out numerous site visits in order to ensure that the proposed shelters met the required specification.
To date, Falco has manufactured bespoke reinforced glass shelters at a number of ferry terminals in Scotland, including:
The bespoke passenger waiting shelters are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and EN 1090 CE Mark ready to withstand the traditional Scottish weather.
Falco provide free Scotland-wide site surveys, free AutoCAD design and free rendering graphics to help visualise a passenger waiting shelter or cycle hub design.
