Context

Finely finished exposed polished concrete furniture, walls and paving were installed at Dublin City University as part of the regeneration of three acres of recreational space.

The project involved the design and manufacture of bespoke items including paving, and 131 linear metres of benching and planter walls.

Project details

The architect approached Cassidy Bros for assistance in getting the perfect fit concrete shapes and colours to regenerate the space. Designs and construction samples were created, along with layout drawings, for approval. Once the manufacturing process was completed the product was transported to DCU for assembly.

Items included

  • Planter walls: Charcoal grey, exposed, bespoke polished concrete
  • Benching: Bespoke octagonal, exposed, black aggregate polished concrete benches with integrated FCS approved, air-dried Cumaru hardwood timber
  • Paving: Large, bespoke, charcoal grey, exposed, polished concrete anti-slip paving slabs (4m2)
    Bracketry: Stainless steel

Comment

“This was a complete facelift for a wonderful space and it was great to have such a strong input, along with BSM, into the type and colour of concrete to be used. We created a range of samples before deciding on the best option to help regenerate the space. We were delighted to be involved in this DCU regeneration project. Situated near the Helix, this finished project really does give the space a new lease of life." Managing Director, David Cassidy
