Memory Inpatient Services at Hollins Park and Whiston Hospitals provide support for adults with memory problems such as dementia who require short-term inpatient care.
The wards have been specially designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment to promote recovery and mental wellbeing of the patients.
This project was initiated to upgrade the courtyards at both locations.
Bailey Streetscene provided a number of seating elements, planters and shelters that would sit on the newly installed rubber surface.
The street furniture required a number of bespoke design additions, including tamper-free fixings, to adhere to the health and safety requirements of the facility.
- New backrest option for the Deacon bench
- Wheelchair-accessible version of the Springwell planter
- Bespoke version of the Heron shelter with multiwall polycarbonate roof sheets and mesh walls
The new courtyard areas provide a familiar space where the patients can relax, exercise and experience the outdoor environment within a safe and enclosed area to encourage development and recovery.
