Context
Riverside Park is located in Maldon, Essex and overlooks the River Crouch with views across to Wallasea Island. There are several historic pubs, a museum and resident houseboats along the quayside, making it a popular place for walking and other outdoor leisures.
Challenge
Maldon Council is continuing with its project to badge parks throughout Maldon with art pieces and welcome signs. Fitzpatrick Woolmer previously provided identity signage for Promenade Park in Maldon, and the design style for the Riverside Park signage followed the same manufacturing techniques. The style was influenced by the racing dinghies that are often seen on the River Crouch.
Solution
Fitzpatrick Woolmer provided two bespoke park entrance signs which flank the entrance of the park, each mirroring the other and positioned at a slight angle to guide visitors through the entrance.
The signs are supported by a fully-welded, stainless steel frame with hardwood iroko fascia panels and full-colour branded n-viro™ print. Lettering is permanently engraved into the timber and infilled with exterior grade paint to ensure longevity. n-viro™ outdoor printed panels are flame- and graffiti-resistant and come with a 10-year lightfastness guarantee. n-viro™ is a rigid panel that can be profiled to any shape, and for this project it offered the perfect solution for the sails.
