Titanic Quarter Ltd
When designing the new Titanic Walkway in Belfast that would offer a seamless connection between Belfast city centre to HMS Caroline and the Thompson Dock, a natural screen was required that would also offer a dedicated demarcation line.
The fencing system had to provide the following key aims:
Titanic Quarter Ltd had seen CLD Fencing Systems' Stone Fence™ on another project and thought it would be the perfect solution. Their fencing contractor, MacAvoy Contracts, contacted CLD Fencing Systems in June 2017 to discuss how they could manufacture the system to screen multiple areas of the 185-acre Titanic Quarter that the walkway would border.
Having their own in-house CAD team, CLD was able to produce multiple design ideas for the client that they could incorporate into their final project designs. The final solution was to feature a 2.4m-high Stone Fence™ with half height sections where access control was required.
Over 300m of Stone Fence™ was manufatcured and shipped to Northern Ireland from CLD's manufacturing plant in Cheshire. Local stone was used to reduce the carbon footprint of the project and erection and infill was completed on time and on budget.
James Eyre, Commercial Director of Titanic Quarter said: “We are delighted to see the completion of the Titanic Walkway. The Titanic Walkway now provides a seamless connection between our maritime heritage assets from the heart of the city centre to HMS Caroline and the Thompson Dock. We are very grateful for the support and dedication from all our partners, delivering these magnificent projects.”
