Times Square in New York is a hectic cultural and commercial hub, with over 460,000 people passing through every day. It is the world’s most visited tourist destination, with 42 million visitors a year. It is the only area in town that instructs tenants to mount exterior neon advertisements, which has made the site a spectacular icon for the city of New York.
Norwegian architectural firm, Snøhetta, won the contract to redesign the space. A variety of versatile furniture options was required which could be used in a number of ways within the ever-changing space.
Vestre supplied APRIL GO tables and chairs which are lightweight and can be easily moved and stacked for storage.
In addition, the STOOP bench was installed to create an informal meeting and seating place.
The STRIPES bench was included to create modular raft benches which could be reconfigured if necessary.
