Outdoor Design, which has worked successfully on many occasions with garden designers, once again helped in bringing to life an award-winning design at the 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The Seedlip Garden, designed by Dr Catherine MacDonald, received a Gold Medal in the new 'Space to Grow' category.
The garden celebrates the form, colour and patterns of the pea plant, as well as its cultural, culinary and scientific significance.
The focal point of the garden is the 'Peavilion', which has a facade made from green aluminium tubing. A total of 1300 tubes were used in the construction of the facade. The tubes were cut to length, cleaned and welded together before being attached to the pavilion framework and then painted on-site.
Other bespoke architectural metalwork elements were also created for the garden to echo the shape and patterns of the pea plant, including 10mm grained and polished stainless steel pea artwork and bespoke steps leading to the 'Peavilion'.
