Bespoke steel planters
Overbury commissioned bespoke steel planters from IOTA for communal courtyard gardens at City, University of London. These were to form one element of the Tait Level 1 Amenity Project – an initiative to provide new student-facing facilities at the Northampton Square university campus, to include:
- a suite of space for the Students’ Union
- new informal learning and quiet study spaces
- a multi-faith area
- a new cafeteria space for staff and students
- landscaping to the communal courtyard gardens
This was a sizeable project, and a total of 97 planters were supplied, in a range of shapes and sizes – from 1200 (l) x 900mm (h) square tree planters, to rectangular shrub planters of variable lengths ranging between 900-1800mm. The planters were manufactured, to IOTA’s standard design, from zintec steel, and polyester powder-coated to RAL 7040 [Window grey].
This project was IOTA’s second involvement at City, University of London; the previous being an external courtyard garden in Northampton Square itself, where IOTA’s Boulevard planters were supplied.
