Nottinghamshire-based metal railings and gates manufacturer, Alpha Rail, completed the installation of decorative metal railings on a project to restore 'The Shrubbery’, an iconic seafront garden area located near Southend Pier.
The Shrubbery runs directly adjacent to the seafront and is a popular attraction due to the quirky ‘miniature castles’ that are a key feature of the design.
In bid to improve the location, works were sanctioned to renovate the area and restore its appeal as an attraction to draw people to the Pier area.
The 3D design team at Alpha Rail was given some basic concepts and worked with the project designer to turn the concepts into a reality.
The landscape onto which the metal railings were to be installed entails many steep gradients and so Alpha Rail conducted a thorough site survey to take precise measurements of the proposed fence line.
Alpha Rail manufactured and installed truly bespoke decorative metal railings. In total 30 metres of 1100mm-high decorative metal railings were installed to the main frontages of the park. In addition to this, a further 44 metres of 1100mm-high balltop metal railings were installed internally to provide perimeter protection for the remaining areas of the park. A single leaf gate was also added to provide staff with entry access to the park.
All metalwork provided was supplied galvanised and polyester powder-coated RAL 7035 Grey to provide protection from rust and adverse weather conditions including protection from the salty atmosphere, prevalent in a seafront location.
Commenting, a spokesman said: “We all agree that the railings installed are absolutely fantastic and we are very pleased with the work that Alpha Rail has done. We feel that the railings really add visual appeal to the site.”
Phil Ball, Sales Director at Alpha Rail added: “I am extremely proud of the metal railings we have installed on this project. Not only are they a truly bespoke design which have transformed the parks landscape, they have also additional levels of safety and security as the railings also deter visitors from climbing on the rockery areas.”
