Environmental Street Furniture (ESF) is launching the Stellar Bench - the first product designed and manufactured by the company - at the Department for International Trade (DIT) exhibition, Innovate UK on Wednesday 8th November in Birmingham.
The Northern Ireland based company currently employs seven people and with the development of the new Stellar Bench, they are hoping to expand their team by 70% in the next two years.
The Stellar Bench is a versatile outdoor bench that offers USB mobile device charging and utilises solar energy without the need for any electricity. The simple design of the bench allows solar energy to be collected and stored in the integrated battery system and it can be used as and when required.
Now exporting to 20 countries including the Middle East, USA and Australia, ESF has seen significant growth in terms of the products it supplies to the international market. The company has successfully developed from servicing the local market with street furniture to diversifying its products, utilising solar and innovative technology and has increased their solar product portfolio, with the introduction of this new and innovative Stellar Bench.
Speaking about the launch, Managing Director of ESF, Alan Lowry said, “We are very excited about the launch of the Stellar Bench. This is the first product that ESF has designed and manufactured and we’ve worked long and hard with our solar technology experts to make sure this product was of the highest standard."
“High quality building materials have been used throughout including a toughened laminated glass top to ensure the bench weathers all seasons, as well as withstanding vandalism. The temperature controlled ventilated seating also makes the bench a very enticing option during the colder weather."
“Solar renewable energies are becoming more prevalent and with a number of Smart Cities across the globe, there is a greater need for products like this. One of the major USPs of the Stellar Bench is that it can be uniquely customised for each individual client with features that include WIFI, ambient LED lighting, themed or branded ends, signage and advertising, data gathering or various colour options."
“We live in a society where there is a need to be connected at all times and the placement of products like the solar bench, as well as the street charge units that we provide, means consumers will never run out of charge.”
Solar energies are becoming increasing popular worldwide with solar capacity increasing by a huge 50% in 2016. By 2022, renewable electricity capacity is expected to increase by a further 43% with generation reaching more than 8,000 terawatt hours – equivalent to the total power consumption of China, India and Germany combined (Energy Live News, 2017). These statistics highlight the need for innovative solar energy products and ESF is committed to being at the forefront of this innovation.
ESF is officially launching the Stellar Bench at the Department for International Trade (DIT) exhibition, Innovate UK on Wednesday 8th November in Birmingham. Alan Lowry will subsequently travel to Orlando in Florida to exhibit on the DIT stand at the well-known IAAPA trade exhibition, where the Stellar Bench will also be featured.
