Southend-on-Sea appointed fwdesign to develop a pilot pedestrian wayfinding scheme that linked the train stations, council offices and high street with the beach. Southend selected the ready-to-go sign system frank®, with its contemporary design styling and flexible, modular configurations.
fwdesign's role was to develop a wayfinding strategy, giving consideration to the wider town requirements and to future-proof how the system will be rolled out in the future. The system mastermap was drawn to encompass the whole town and future applications such as hand-held and digital.
The first phase comprised seven multi-map panels and eight fingerposts. This is supported by the inclusion of the map in all town centre bus stops.
"frank has provided us with insight and reassurance in a customised, ready-to-go solution. We are delighted that our specific needs – both current and future – can be met with a proven design, within budget."
– Mehmet Mazhar, Group Manager, Highways and Traffic Services,Southend-on-Sea Borough Council
Continuing from Southend, fwdesign has sucessfully delivered a new coastal regeneration project, working with Bognor Regis Council to deliver a wayfinding scheme as part of improvement works to the town centre and seafront. frank signage was selected following a comprehensive client review of options available.
