Challenge
Ollerton and Boughton are adjoining towns. The two Councils came together during the closure of the Nottinghamshire mines and the town has since lost a lot of its personality. As a result, the Town Council decided it wanted to bring some life back to the community and create a brand new social hub.
The Council approached Jupiter Play because of our unique and extensive product portfolio. We sought an original outdoor play area that would bring the locals together.
Solution
Our expert team worked closely with the Council exploring different routes of play, as they were initially very hesitant with the interactive range. Although they wanted something new, the products pitched caused concern as the Council was only familiar with traditional play. This new form of outdoor fun was unknown territory, and couldn't understand how the products would benefit all generations and abilities. The Council were very aware of the dimentia care home that is situated next to their offices, and wanted something that the in-patients could go out and use as an escape too, to make the site fully inclusive and intergenerational.
Jupiter Play took the Council to its local interactive Sona Arch and they were instantly sold. Yalp's product range completely reinvents the meaning of play. The Council knew if it was attractive to their team, it was undoubtedly going to appeal to the local community, and instantly understood the the value of fun as well as the endless health benefits that individuals can reap from the units.
After the Council visited its local interactive site, it was time to decide which product they wanted incorporated into their design. Initial discussions were only for one product, however, after seeing first hand, the Council chose to purchase the entire range. When asked what the driving force was behind the budget expansion for the project, the Council were persuaded by the ability to update games, low maintenance, online monitor system and volume and time lock control. But most importantly, the value that the products hold for the older generation, not just children, and the amount of use the local dimentia care home patients would be able to get from the products.
The Council purchased the entire Yalp interactive range. In addition, they purchased some of Jupiter's kinetic powered interactive products. This decision allows children of all abilities to enjoy the outdoor play area.

Outcome
The interactives are a revelation for play as they provide everything that has always been missing for park managers. This was exciting for the Council and for Jupiter because it was creating the UK's most interactive playground.
The site opened in mid-July 2017 and the Council has regularly monitored the products online since then. The community playtime hits above average compared to all products installed worldwide, and this can be monitored on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
The locals are loving the new play area and have also shown a new level of respect for the area. In addition, the public has reported less anti-social behaviour since the opening. The Council believes this is due to the time lock shutting the products down at 9pm.
