We have worked with Chris Beardshaw on a number of occasions but when we were contacted asking for some planters and heard the words 'Chelsea Flower Show' and 'Great Ormond Street Hospital' it sounded like an exciting project we had to be a part of! Frances Toase worked with Marketing Manager Katie Weller to decide on the best option for this project. Due to the space restrictions it was decided that bespoke planters were going to suit the project the best and with a few materials to choose from corten steel was decided on.

Starting out as a blue steel, as soon as Corten Steel is exposed to the elements it will naturally weather and develop a rich eye catching finish. This natural fixed coating of rust provides protection against further corrosion. This was a great choice for a space where it would be contrasted with an array of lush greenery.

Our usual lead time on bespoke planters is 4-5 weeks but Frances informed us we had just two weeks before these items needed to be craned onto the top of the hospital! We explained to our suppliers in Holland that this was no ordinary order and these planters were for GOSH and to our suprise at their busiest time of year they were able to get us a 5, 6 and 7m long trough in just under two weeks.

As soon as they arrived they were sent straight off and after that it was a patient wait to see the finished garden! Last night the DIY SOS Big Build episode aired and we were delighted to see these large beautiful troughs holding tall hedging surrounding the garden.

We sincerely hope this garden provides a tranquil space for families to escape and reflect.

Everyone involved did a truly amazing job and we're honoured to have contributed.
