Inside Out Homes – Ch4 TV series used Harrowden Turf to transform the garden of a semi-detached home in Manchester to an outdoor living room – complete with TV
In this episode of Inside Out Homes, architect Zac Munro helps a non-traditional family to transform their semi-detatched town house in Manchester into two homes within one building. The garden becomes a communal space for the three adults and four children to share. In many ways it becomes the heart of the family home with a relaxing outdoor living room complete with a screen for TV viewing.
Harrowden Turf were proud to be asked to supply lawn turf to finish the project.
“This kind of TV programme highlights the importance of incorporating the garden into landscape design for a flowing, integrated feel that makes full use of every square centimetre of a property,” says Harrowden Director Stuart Ridd-Jones. “It’s such a shame when the garden is the last thing considered in a building project and the attitude is to ‘bung a bit of grass seed down’ to make it look better. If everybody were to value their outside space a whole lot more, imagine how the nation’s wellbeing would improve.”
“In this case” adds Stuart “the turf isn’t the main player in the design – but the garden would be a lot less green and inviting without it. I’m pleased to see that the family are enjoying their garden to the full.”
